Lizete Manning is a Timorese National. Born and raised in East Timor, educated under an Indonesian schooling system, and completed her tertiary qualifications, In Melbourne, Australia by way of an international sponsor program. She now resides in northern Australia, near Timor.
Liz was born in 1982, 7 years after the Indonesian invasion of East Timor in December of 1975.She was subsequently raised through the period of the Indonesian occupation of East Timor, lasting until Oct 1999. After a UN sanctioned vote for independence from Indonesia that turned violent, the small country slid into bloody chaos, which ultimately led to a response by an international force of peacekeepers, led by Australia and other nation’s militaries, known as INTERFET, that finally brought peace to the small but troubled nation. Timor eventually secured their true independence from the Republic of Indonesia in May of 2002. After centuries of Portuguese colonial rule and following Indonesian occupation lasting over 24 years, East Timor is now truly free of their colonial powers and striving to rebuild a Nation.
Liz was blessed to secure an international scholarship and moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she completed a Bachelor of Business at Swinbourne University. She has extensive Business experience, speaks 4 languages fluently, and is a proficient interpreter.
